Everyone is born with an Immune System, it is the natural protection that was given to us as defense against infections, germs, diseases, and microorganisms that the body faces on a daily basis. The immune system attacks anything that gets into the body that is likely to cause illness or disease so if you work hard to keep yourself healthy, it should be smooth sailing! Let’s dive deep-
There are millions of red and white blood cells throughout your body, working 24/7 to keep you in good health, day and night. If they are looked after properly, they will work efficiently, and fight all germs but if they are starved of the right nutrition through poor eating, alcohol abuse, smoking or drug abuse, then they start failing and you can pick up illnesses, or diseases and this is when you can start to develop autoimmune diseases like diabetes, they attack the insulin producing cells or any of the other complaints like arthritis, multiple sclerosis and other illnesses. The cells of the immune system must be kept in a balanced state, the cells need to be fed so that they work efficiently.
Our bodies are constantly under attack which is why it is important not to take your immune system for granted. There are many things that you can do to keep your immune system healthy and ready to shield your body from infection and in turn help keep your strength up.
Find ways to relax. Stress produces many different effects on the endocrine systems and scientists believe that immune function may be diminished by chronic stresses. As mentioned previously, deep breathing techniques can help you relax, which can reduce mental and physical stress as well as lower blood pressure and slow down your heart rate.
Sleep matters. Besides leaving you feeling sluggish and tired, not getting enough sleep can temporarily reduce the activity of certain cells in your immune system by up to 50 percent. Strive to get seven to eight hours of sleep each night.
Feed your immune system well. Not getting enough calories and getting too much dietary fat may weaken immune response. This is one important reason why we recommend a well-balanced diet that includes plenty of fruit, vegetables, low-fat dairy products and whole grains.
Stay active! Your regular exercise helps to strengthen your immune system, cardiovascular system, heart, muscles and bones. Being active also stimulates the release of endorphins, improves concentration and other mental functioning, lowers cholesterol and blood pressure, and may lower other stress hormones.
Educate yourself about interferon. It’s a natural protein that helps protect the body from the daily exposure to millions of germs that can lead to serious infection. Interferon also activates other immune cells that kill unwanted pathogens.
